Generic Azor

Common Use

Azor is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension in adults. It combines an angiotensin II receptor blocker with a calcium channel blocker for enhanced blood pressure control. The medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. It is usually used when single-drug therapy is not sufficient.

Dosage and Direction

Azor should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It is typically taken once daily, with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water. Dosage may be adjusted based on blood pressure response.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver problems, or heart conditions. Azor may cause dizziness, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended.

Contraindications

Azor is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olmesartan, amlodipine, or any of its components. It should not be used during pregnancy due to risk to the fetus. Severe liver impairment may require special caution or avoidance. Breastfeeding should be discussed with a doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include dizziness, headache, and swelling of the ankles or feet. Some patients may experience flushing or fatigue. Most side effects are mild to moderate. Seek medical attention if severe reactions occur.

Drug Interaction

Azor may interact with other blood pressure medications. Using it with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics may increase potassium levels. Certain NSAIDs may reduce its effectiveness. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two doses at the same time. Continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include severe low blood pressure, dizziness, or fainting. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. Supportive treatment may be required.

Storage

Store Azor at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication in its original packaging. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
