Generic Benicar HCT

Common Use
Benicar HCT is used for the treatment of hypertension in patients who require combination therapy. It helps lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and removing excess fluid from the body. Reducing blood pressure decreases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

Dosage and Direction
Dosage is determined by the patient’s condition and response to therapy. Benicar HCT is usually taken once daily, with or without food. Take the medication at the same time each day as prescribed by your doctor. Do not adjust the dose without medical advice.

Precautions
Before taking Benicar HCT, inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver problems, diabetes, or electrolyte imbalances. Dehydration may increase the risk of low blood pressure, especially at the start of treatment. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes may be required.

Contraindications
Benicar HCT should not be used in patients who are allergic to olmesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides, or any of its components. It is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm. The medication should not be used in patients with anuria or severe kidney impairment.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, or low blood pressure. Some patients may experience electrolyte disturbances such as low potassium levels. Seek medical attention if severe symptoms such as fainting, irregular heartbeat, or allergic reactions occur.

Drug Interaction
Benicar HCT may interact with other blood pressure medications, diuretics, lithium, or NSAIDs. These interactions can affect kidney function or blood pressure control. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose
Overdose may cause excessive lowering of blood pressure, dehydration, or electrolyte imbalance. Symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, or rapid heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Storage
Store Benicar HCT at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct light. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiration date.
