Generic Combivent

Combivent

Combivent, a highly effective inhaled medication, is used for managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It combines two active ingredients: ipratropium bromide, an anticholinergic, and albuterol, a beta-agonist. Ipratropium works by blocking acetylcholine receptors, leading to bronchodilation and reduced airway inflammation, while albuterol stimulates beta-2 receptors, causing relaxation of the airway muscles and improved airflow. This combination provides both immediate and long-lasting relief from symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chronic cough. Combivent is delivered via a metered-dose inhaler, ensuring precise and effective medication delivery directly to the lungs. Known for its synergistic action and reliable performance, Combivent offers comprehensive symptom control and supports overall respiratory health. Healthcare providers value Combivent for its dual-action formulation and role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with COPD and asthma.

Common use

Combivent contains two active substances: ipratropium bromide (Atrovent) and Levosalbutamol. Ipratropium blocks m-cholinoreceptors of smooth muscles in the bronchi and treacheas, suppresses reflect constriction of bronchis, decreases secretion of the mucous membrane in the respiratory tract. The drug is used in treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with spasm of the airways. Effect of bronchodilators consists in dilatation and enlargement of the airways by relaxing the muscles of respiratory tract. Ipatropium works different way, it has a structural similarity with acetylcholine and becomes its competitive antagonist. The medication effectively prevents spasm of the bronchi due to breathing with cigarette smoke, cold air, activity of different agents which cause spasm of bronchi associated with influence of n.vagus.
