Generic Micardis HCT

Common Use

Micardis HCT is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension in adults. It combines an angiotensin II receptor blocker with a diuretic for enhanced blood pressure control. The medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke. It is usually used when single-drug therapy is not sufficient.

Dosage and Direction

Micardis HCT should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It is usually taken once daily, with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water. Do not adjust the dose without medical advice.

Precautions

Before taking Micardis HCT, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. Monitor blood pressure regularly during treatment. This medication may cause dizziness, especially at the start of therapy. Adequate hydration is important while using this drug.

Contraindications

Micardis HCT is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to its components. It should not be used in patients with severe kidney impairment or inability to urinate. Use during pregnancy is contraindicated due to risk to the fetus. Breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before use.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and low blood pressure. Some patients may experience increased urination or electrolyte imbalance. Less commonly, nausea or back pain may occur. Seek medical attention if severe reactions develop.

Drug Interaction

Micardis HCT may interact with other blood pressure medications. Using it with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics may increase potassium levels. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may reduce its effectiveness. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time. Resume your normal dosing schedule.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, or low blood pressure. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage. Supportive medical care may be required.

Storage

Store Micardis HCT at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original packaging. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
