Common use

Nebivolol refers to a special group of drugs called beta-blockers. These means affect circulation of blood in the organism. Nebivolol is the main component of the medicine which helps to treat hypertension syndrome. It also lowers the risk of a stroke or sudden heart attack. It can also be prescribed for some other aims which are not listed in this medical guide.



Dosage and direction

Nebivolol tablets must be taken observing all doctor’s instructions and recommendations. It is better to swallow them at one and the same time each day. They can be eaten regardless of food. Try not to skip the doses because it can worsen your condition. Therapy usually presupposes diet, exercises and weight control. Stick to all indications in order to reinforce the effectiveness of therapy.



Precautions

It is important to take only prescribed doses and follow all your general practitioner’s recommendations. If a patient suddenly makes a pause taking the medication it can make his or her health condition worse or even cause severe pain in chest or sudden heart attack. Contraindications

Severe liver diseases, heart block, chronic sick sinus syndrome, low heart rate or different heart failures, severe asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, any liver or kidney diseases, a thyroid disorder, diabetes, allergies, problems with blood circulation or recent heart attacks are sometimes regarded as contraindications.



Possible side effect

Severe allergic reactions and other symptoms require quick medical help. You must find emergency service if you experience some side effects. These reactions can also include: problems with breath, extra swelling of the ankles or hands, short and uneven heartbeats, feeling of cold in the hands and legs. Less common symptoms are headache, severe nausea, stomach ache, constant diarrhoea or insomnia.



Drug interaction

Nebivolol may interact with many substances and drugs which include: cimetidine (Tagamet), digitalis (especially digoxin, Lanoxin), clonidine (Catapres), isoniazid (for treating tuberculosis), reserpine, methimazole (Tapazole), ropinirole (Requip), Ticlid, another beta-blockers, antidepressants, heart or high blood pressure medicines, HIV or AIDS medications. A patient must inform the physician if he or she is supposed to use Nebivolol tablets together with drugs listed above.



Missed dose

You should take the missed portion as soon as you remember. Never try to catch up if you have forgotten to swallow dose and it is time to take the next one. Skip one portion and take the drug as usual.



Overdose

Severe overdose symptoms and states may include lowering of heart rate, strong dizziness, persistent vomiting and trouble breathing. Severe side effects are sometimes regarded as overdose reactions. Refer to professional medical service if overdose effects become vivid and strong.



Storage

Nebivolol pills should be stored at usual home temperature away from small children. Keep in mind that persistent heat, high level of moisture and direct sunlight can damage your medication.
