Generic Stugeron

Common use

Stugeronis an anti-histaminic drug which main application is to control vomiting caused by motion sickness. This medication is used to treat cerebrovascular insufficiency (dizziness, tinnitus, decreased ability to concentrate attention or memory, etc.), discirculatory encephalopathy, involutional psychosis or depression, conditions after a stroke or traumatic brain injury, migraine, vestibular disorders (Meniere's syndrome, kinetosis etc. which appear as disequilibrium, nausea, vomiting, nystagmus), peripheral circulation disorders (Raynaud's disease, arteriosclerosis obliterans, thromboangiitis, diabetic angiopathy, trophic and varicose ulcers, acrocyanosis, paresthesia, nocturnal cramps and cold extremities).

Stugeronis an antihistamine and a calcium channel blocker. Histamines are responsible for contraction of smooth muscle of the airways and gastrointestinal tract, vasodilatation, cardiac stimulation, secretion of gastric acid, promotion of interleukin release and chemotaxis of eosinophils and mast cells. Thus Stugeronimproves cerebral blood circulation, peripheral circulation, blocks L-type calcium channels mainly in vascular smooth muscles.





Dosage and direction

Stugeronis taken orally after a meal. In patients with vestibular and cerebral blood flow disorders 25 mg of Stugeronare taken 3 times a day. To prevent sea and air sickness take 25 mg 30 minutes before your trip, if necessary repeat the dose after 6-8 hours. In patients with peripheral circulation disorders daily dose of 50-75 mg should be divided for three intakes during a day and the condition requires a long treatment which duration should be agreed with your health care advisor. In children the dose should be reduced.



Precautions

Consult your physician before to use this medication if you are pregnant, plan to be pregnant or breastfeeding, have any allergy in history. Cautiousness should be exercised in patients with Parkinson's disease and the medication should be administered only if a potential benefit of treatment exceeds expected worsening of the underlying disease. Large doses (150 mg / day) may develop extrapyramidal disorders (tremor, muscular rigidity, hypokinesia) in elderly patients, in such cases treatment with Stugeronshould be discontinued. This medication may affect ability to high concentration of attention and should be used with cautiousness if you need to drive a car or operate machinery. Long-term use is recommended to perform under monitoring of liver and kidney functioning as well as the peripheral blood count.



Contraindications

If you have hypersensitivity to the medication or any of its components, or if you are breastfeeding never use this drug.



Possible side effect

In patients taking Stugeronthese adverse reactions may occur: drowsiness, fatigue, headache, extrapyramidal disorders (tremor of the limbs and increased muscle tone, hypokinesia), dry mouth, epigastric pain, dyspepsia, cholestatic jaundice, sweating, skin rash, allergic reactions, drop in blood pressure, increase in body weight.



Drug interaction

Effects Stugeronare increased by tricyclic antidepressant drugs, CNS depressants, alcohol. Stugeronincreases activity of other medications for vasodilation. Stugeronmay potentiate the effects of nootropic drugs. The resorption of the preparation may be quickened by antiacide medicines and H2-blockers resulting in reduced acidity of the stomach fluid. Nootrope agents and vasodilators increase Stugeroneffects.



Missed dose

Take missed dose of Stugeronas soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose just skip the missed dose and resume the usual dosing schedule. Do not take double doses of Cinnarizine.



Overdose

The maximum recommended dose should not exceed 225 mg (9 tablets) per day. In case of serious side effects seek for immediate medical help.



Storage

Store this medication at a room temperature of 15-20 C in a dark dry place out of reach of children and pets.
