Common use

Tibofem (estradiol) is prescribed for hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women. It helps manage menopausal symptoms, prevent bone loss, and maintain overall hormonal balance. The medication delivers estrogen through a transdermal patch for consistent absorption.

Dosage and direction

Apply the Tibofem patch to clean, dry, and intact skin on the lower abdomen, buttocks, or other recommended area. Replace the patch once or twice weekly, depending on the prescribed regimen. Rotate application sites to avoid skin irritation.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have a history of breast cancer, blood clots, liver disease, heart disease, or stroke. Monitor for signs of unusual bleeding, swelling, or chest pain. Avoid smoking, as it increases the risk of cardiovascular complications.

Contraindications

Do not use Tibofem if allergic to estradiol or other ingredients in the patch. It is contraindicated in women with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, hormone-sensitive cancers, active blood clots, or liver disease.

Possible side effect

Common side effects include skin irritation at the patch site, headache, nausea, breast tenderness, and bloating. Serious side effects may include blood clots, stroke, heart attack, or hormone-sensitive cancers. Seek medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Drug interaction

Tibofem may interact with certain anticonvulsants, antibiotics, or medications affecting liver enzymes. Inform your doctor of all prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and supplements you are taking.

Missed dose

If a patch is missed, apply it as soon as possible and continue with the regular schedule. Do not use extra patches to compensate for missed doses.

Overdose

Overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, or hormonal side effects. Seek medical attention if overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Tibofem patches at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
